The International Bowl-Playing Association European Championships

Westerstede is the venue of the 2004 IBA European Championships. These championships are held every four years in one of the participating countries. Bowl-playing is a very popular sport in northern Germany. Almost 40,000 people are active members in one of the 300 listed clubs in Germany. However, bowl-playing is not only famous in German but also in countries like the Netherlands, Ireland and Italy. The bowl-playing associations of these countries form the IBA. In May bowl-players from these countries compete in three different disciplines for the European Championship trophy.
