Hey over there, well actually, I can’t believe that more than a half year has already passed since I left good old East-Frisia and took my flight to Mexico. I live here with my mexican host family nearby the wonderful colonial city San Miguel de Allende. The city is named after a hero of the Mexican independence, Captain Ignacio de Allende. San Miguel is in the center of Mexico in the state Gunajuato. It aproxamatly about 125,000 inhabitants and is famous for the beautiful historical center and survives from the tourism.

I go to a public high school where I have to wear a uniform. There are about 2,500 pupils in three different grades. The teaching level is lower than in Germany and the manner of the clases is about writing and learning what the teatcher says, and can be a bit boring.
In my school I have already gotten to know a lot of people and when I go into the city, I always see someone I know.

The people here a very nice and very friendly but they are different in their way of life. They don’t care much about laws and so it’s nothing special if you see a guy 14 years old driving his own car. The Mexicans prefer to relax than to work, the time is not very important, the work is better done tomorrow than today and in the after-noon nobody works. Of course in Mexico there are a lot of parties with Mariachis and a lot of Tequila too. I have to say in the beginning it was a bit strange for me but now I really apreciate and love this way of life. All this is part of the mexican culture and their carefree manner.

Living in Mexico makes you think about Germany and the Germans. In Mexico a lot of people are very poor and live in places which you hardly can call a house. On the other hand the Germans compared with the Mexicans are incredibly rich but the Mexicans are more satisfied with their situation.I beleive it would be good for a lot of Germans to go to Mexico for a while and they would reconsider their opinion about their situation.

But all in all I have had a wonderful time here and can only recommend you to make an exchange.

See you in a few months in East-Frisia and keep skankin' ;)

Greetings Clemens Krull
