“Gracey”

Australia – this was the topic of many English lessons in the 9e. First we talked about geographical facts, for example big cities and sights. We also gathered information from the web about the people’s language and history as well as plants and animals. While doing this, we came across an important Australian issue: the Aborigines. Our English teacher Mr. Donath presented a book by James Moloney to us. This book is about an Aboriginal girl called Gracey. Her name is also the title of the book. The reader gets a lot of information about the relationship between Aborigines and Whites today but also about their first contacts.
Our class kept a reader’s diary about every chapter (summary, personal opinions and drawings). We also wrote a test about the contents of the book after we had finished reading it. Finally we made a web-page about “Gracey” which includes many interesting links about Australia.
We’d like to invite you to visit our web pagehttp://www.ulricianum-aurich.de/gracey
