Report about my Exchange Year in Argentina
It has been quite a while now, since I left my home town, Grossefehn, to live one year of my life abroad in Trenque Lauquen, Argentina. Trenque Lauquen is a small, sleepy city of 40.000 inhabitants which is located in the middle of the Argentinean Pampa.

That’s why the economy of the town depends a lot on agriculture, which mostly consists of cattle-breeding. I am going to a private school, which is called "Los Médanos." Compared to the Ulricianum, it is really tiny, there are only 200 students from primary until high school. In my class we are only 15 students, therefore the working conditions are pretty good. But, nevertheless, I would say that the general knowledge of the students is not as high as in Germany. Since “Los Medanos” is an all-day school, there is not much time left to do other things. I arrive back home at 5 PM, and afterward I usually go to a friend’s house to have some Mate (the nation al drink, a green tea which doesn’t taste good at all, but once you get used to it, you will not be able to live without it) to a club to practice some sport or just to the center where you always meet somebody you can talk with. When it comes down to it, life is just so different here in Argentina. Life seems to be much more relaxed here. People never miss out on their sleep “siesta” (or nap) in the afternoon and nobody cares too much about laws. Therefore it is quite normal to see 14 year old kids driving or staying in a disco till dawn. In the beginning of my exchange, everything was pretty weird for me, but I have come to love this kind of life! People here are totally friendly, they help you whenever they can, and I am just enjoying my time here. Being so far away from home also made me think a lot about my own country and its people. I surely developed a certain sense of nationality and I realized how important my family and my fri ends are for me. Though I am sure that I will miss a bunch of things, I do look forward a lot to coming back to Germany in July. If there is anything you want to know, just mail me at: arnehintz@hotmail.com !!!
