ulricianumtimes.de _ sports: Michael Jordan‘s Comeback, Part III
[ Christoph Risius ] He might not be as fast but he is still as great as ever..
The question that puzzled the basketball world most this year was whether Michael Jordan being 38 could keep up to his own legend.
It looked like he had already overcome it even before the first game by giving his entire wage of 12 million dollars a year to the victims of the 11th September. This move made it clear that Jordan did not come back for the money – just for the love of the game. (Still many critics claim Jordan only came back for the fame.) Everybody was excited whether Jordan was still able to play at such a high level at the age of 38. At first it seemed like he had lost a lot of his skills during his two year rest, when he became the owner of half of the Washington Wizards, his current team, missing lay-ups and free jump-shots in his first game against the New York Knicks. It was also asked if he could reach anything in spite of playing for one of last year’s worst teams.
However, as the season went on, Jordan became better and better, leading his Wizards to a playoff position, hitting several game-winning buzzer beaters, just like in his old times. He also appeared at the All Star Game, scoring...
Throughout all season he has made 24.3 points (8th in the NBA), 6 rebounds (3rd in his team), and 5.4 assists (leading his team).
Having his knee being operated on and pausing for at least another three weeks Jordan‘s age has taken hold of him and the Wizards are on a losing streak again making it doubtful whether Jordan or Washington will reach this year’s playoffs.

Even without going there, Jordan has proven/proved every critic that he is still able to play basketball and stand out in the best league in the world, pursuing his dream to be history’s best player of the game.
