ulricianumtimes.de _ culture: Music makes the school go around
[ Gesa & Wiebke ] On Wednesday evening, once again the traditional school concert took place in the Ulricianum’s assembly hall. Like every year every single seat was taken by students, parents, grandparents and other people interested in music.
Obviously, the audience enjoyed a wide variety of music ranging from “California Dreaming” to “Vivace”, an extract of one of Telemann’s sonatas. Nevertheless, this year’s performances focused rather on modern than on classical music. Because of this, a lot of technical work had to be done on the forehand, like installing amplifiers or checking the drums’ sound. A special presentation was given by the students who take part in this year’s Comenius Project. The five pieces of music they played are the Aurich contribution to a CD produced by all seven schools involved in the project.
Another interesting aspect of the evening were several pieces composed by Ulricianum’s students. There will be another performance on Friday, 15th March, tickets are still available at the Ulricianum’s school office, telephone ++494192280.
