[ Keno, Reeno & Inga ] For a negotiated study, we had to read the novel “Daughter of Fortune” written by Isabel Allende.
First of all it seemed to be a burden for us to read a novel with more than 400 pages and write a negotiated study with 12 pages about it, but after reading about half of it, most of us started to get into the story and found the characters very interesting.
If you feel like reading an interesting book, we suggest that you read on further because now we are going to present you the contents of the novel.
The book \"Daughter of Fortune\" deals with the unusual life of the orphan Eliza grown up within an English aristocratic family in Valparaíso, Chile. She is educated as a lady by her \"mother\" Rose, but as well she is brought up by her “Nanny” with Chilean influences. When she falls in love with a boy from Chile her protected life starts to change. He leaves her for the Californian Gold fields, and she follows him after she discovered to be pregnant.
At this stage the story becomes interesting. In California there are many people with many different historical and social backgrounds which are described very well by Isabel Allende. This is the most appealing aspect of the novel that it is written for people who like historical facts, as well as for readers who prefer to get to know many different characters with various attitudes towards life and other individuals.
